People & Compliance remain a top priority for business energy firm

Claire Penson has been appointed as the new “Head of People and Compliance” at Bolton based business energy price comparison service, Love Energy Savings. Having previously worked for eight years in the financial services sector, Claire is keen to share her experience with the Love Energy Savings team and help aid them in their ambitious growth plans.

Claire’s previous role as Senior HR Business Partner, at Santander UK, saw her provide strategic HR support to the retail and commercial bank, helping them through a period of transformation. It is hoped that her experience in organisational change will aid Love Energy Savings as they embark on the next phase of growth.

Love Energy Savings has seen its workforce increase three-fold since the beginning of the year and were recently awarded “The Best SME to Work In” at the inaugural SME Awards. It will be a key part of Claire’s job to ensure this continues.

Along with overseeing the HR department, and aiding employee engagement activities, Claire will also have a responsibility to work alongside Love Energy Savings’ new Compliance Officer to ensure customers are equally as satisfied as the staff.

The recent Competition and Market Authority (CMA) recommendations to Ofgem have once again raised questions regarding regulation in the energy market. Love Energy Savings have taken it upon themselves to regulate the sector from within and Claire will be ensuring that standards remain high, putting pressure on competitors to do the same.

Commenting on the appointment, Claire expressed excitement about the wide remit of her role;

“I was very much attracted to the variety this role provides; from top level strategy creation to being on the ground, with employees, seeing those changes in action. It is a great opportunity and I am thrilled to have been welcomed so readily into the Love Energy Savings family.”

Phil Foster, Managing Director of Love Energy Savings, also expressed his optimism for the future in light of Claire joining the team;

“It is set to be a very exciting time for Love Energy Savings over the next few years. We are growing at a rapid rate and we’re leading the way in the industry, in terms of regulation and offering truly transparent service to business energy customers. I am extremely confident that, with Claire’s years of expertise, we will see really positive changes before the year is out, setting us up for a great 2017.”
